I am an internal medicine physician - I went to medical school in Kentucky, completed a rigorous Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai in New York City, and then came out to LA where I worked as a primary care doctor, a gender-health specialist, and an educator teaching at UCLA School of Medicine.
As first author for multiple research papers, including two studies looking at the metabolic safety of gender-affirming hormone therapy, trans healthcare has been an emphasis throughout my medical career.
Although institutions such as academic medical centers, insurance groups, and government policy makers create vast networks and systems, they often look at health at the population level.
And I wanted to work with you! Not with administrators, insurer corporations, and elected officials.
So AHM was created.
During my time practicing medicine, I have cared for over a thousand transgender and gender-diverse people and I have now created a private, dedicated space to helping individuals with initiation and maintenance of hormone therapy. I work from the lens of an adult medicine specialist - how these hormones affect the entire body - and with ample time for visits, allowing for emotional space.
